Ingredients to Make Apple Pie

All Purpose Flour – 2 ½ cups
Sugar – 4 teaspoons
Salt – ¼ teaspoon
Diced cold butter- ¼ tablespoons
Egg – 1
Cold water – 2 tablespoons
Freshly squeezed lemon juice – 2 tablespoons
Baking apples(Mutsu. Cortland, Golden Delicious)- 3 pounds
Sugar – 2/3 cup
Unsalted butter- 1/4 cup
Ground Cinnamon – ¼ teaspoon
Ground Nutmeg – A pinch
How to Make Apple Pie
To make apple pie, you should make the dough, then the filling and should have both in place. It sounds simple and following the instructions well can make the dish to be prepared with great ease.
Step 1 : First thing you should do is beat the egg lightly with the cold water.
Step 2 : Dough can be made by hand or using food processor. You should whisk flour, salt and sugar together.
Step 3 : Using finger then you should mix the butter to the dry flour. If the butter or the dough turns warm, then you should refrigerate it so that you can proceed with the process.
Step 4 : You can then add egg and stir that using a fork or can just use the hand to mix that well.
Step 1 : For making the filling, take another bowl pour lemon juice to it.
Step 2 : You should now cut the apple in such a way that one half of the apple can be cut to about 4 wedges.

Step4 : Now take a skillet and melt the butter in it in medium to higher heat. You can then add apples to the same and start cooking as well as stirring until you know that the sugar is properly melted and it may take just 2 minutes.
Step 5 : You should then keep it in medium or low flame until the apple is soften and it has released almost all the juice from it.
Step 6 : Strain the apples over a medium bowl so that all the juice from it is collected.
Step 7 : You can then pour the juice to the skillet and boil it in medium heat so that you get it thick and also in lightly caramelized form. This process may take about 10 minutes.
Step 8 : Now add apples and spices to it and toss that well. You can then set it aside for cooling.
Step9 : Dough should then be cut to half and start rolling it to make a disc of 11 inches of width. Dough should be layered between the pieces of the wax or parchment on the baking sheet. You should then refrigerate this to minimum 10 minutes.
Step 10 : Preheat the over to 375 degrees F. Take a pie pan of 9 inches and put the discs of dough on it, make sure that you trim it so that it do not go beyond pan’s edge.
Step 11 : Apple filling should then be put to it in center. Edges of dough should be brushed with egg.
Step 12 : Second disc should then be made on the top of the first disc. Top layer of this dough should be made to go under edge of bottom layer. You can then press edges well so that they look like sealed.
Step 13 : Now can brush the surface of the pie with egg and sprinkle sugar on it. Top of the pie should pierced so that it gets cooked up leaving the steam. You can refrigerate it for 15 minute before you bake it.
Step 14 : Bake the pie until you get a golden crust for the pie. It may take 50 minutes.You can let the pie cool before you serve to it to the family.
This is really a great dish to consider for a special meals. You can even make the pie and store in the refrigerator so that you bake it whenever you need it. If you want the pie to be stored for long term do not sprinkle sugar or brush it with egg but you should let that freeze in refrigerator for sometime and then should wrap it with plastic. You can store pie in this way for about 6 months.
