Rasam is a very common dish in south India. If you are south Indian you are supposed to know how to make rasam. It is not because rasam is a traditional south Indian dish but it is a dish that is very good for your health. If you choose traditional south Indian tali u will come across this for sure.

Rasam and Health

Rasam is a dish that has got healthy ingredients in that which can keep you in good form. Rasam has got ingredients like garlic which can provide you with better digestion. Garlic also has anti oxidants in it which can prevent the occurrence of cancer. Asafoetida is another ingredient in it that helps you in having better digestion. It is good for dealing with various stomach and also digestive issues. Garlic also helps in maintaining the levels of cholesterol.

Pepper is another major ingredient in rasam which helps you a lot when you have cold. Pepper has so many medicinal values that can keep your system in proper functioning mode.

Ingredients of Rasam

Rasam is the dish that can be made very easily with the common ingredients at home. You can make this dish when you do not have sufficient time to spend in kitchen. It tastes really good and make you have fine digestion.

You need pepper, fenugreek, asafoetida, coriander powder, turmeric powder, cumin seeds, dry chillies, tomato, garlic, coriander leaves, curry leaves, mustard seeds, tamarind and some salt. All these are very easily available ingredients in your kitchen. You can make rasam at any time.

Procedures for How to Make Rasam

Making rasam is indeed a simple and easiest thing to do. You need to first make the rasam powder which is the soul of rasam. Take some pepper, cumin seeds, asafoetida, coriander powder, garlic, salt and fenugreeks. Put that in mixer and get that crushed. Now you need to take a pan heat some oil and put mustard seeds in to. Add dried red chillies to this. Now its the time to add our rasam mixture to the oil. Along with that add some curry leaves too. Now pour some water to it. Then cut the tomatoes and add them. Let the tomatoes get cooked and  boil well.

During this time lets us take tamarind of about a gooseberry’s size and add water to that. Smash the tamarind well with your hand in water. Now when  boils add the water in which you have smashed tamarind to rasam. Let it boil and then add coriander leaves. Your spicy rasam is now ready to be served.
